Learning From Home Is ____!

We've covered homeschooling and working from home but with the pandemic still out there, most of us, student or not, are likely to be doing some or more online learning. What's it really like? Could it be the key to a better education? Let's dig into LFH today.

Admit it. Most of us are not familiar with online anything, except gaming or social media but when it comes to having no choice but to work/learn online, we'd first be glad that we don't have to spend time commuting. What's next?

The type of people who are troubled by this new way of life can be categorized but we won't.

The latest "stay-home policy" has forced us to realize that we could do almost everything online. However, those who were doing well on their own are doing well or better now and those who were not can't wait to get back to "normal". Face it. What we have right now is the new norm and even with COVID gone, things aren't going back that much. We would be able to go out and maybe without masks but we're not really going back, just like how we can't live without the internet now.

Everything has its pros and cons. It is how you apply it that matters. Here, we'd like to share some perspectives. Know that this is, of course, just a general point of view and not definite. Online learning saves time. A click on your device brings you straight to the lesson. Struggles such as locations between teachers and students do not exist anymore because now you are only one screen away. You get to choose where you feel the most comfortable to learn, and in other words, you have control of the environment. And surely, what most people care about, the tuition for online learning is prone to be cheaper.

Sounds great? We think so... except for one key factor, the learners themselves. LFH requires maturity, self-discipline, and self-knowing. Otherwise, all the previously mentioned benefits would be obstacles and these people would just end up asking for cheaper tuition. All the convenience and freedom will sabotage the learning itself. Idleness is merely the beginning. Then come indulgence and ignorance.

Let us know if you didn't wake up in your pajamas all day because you didn't need to go out for the day. It is a very natural instinct to want to relax. That said, if you don't want what comes after too much relaxation, it'd be best to know when and how to chill for the long term. It's never too late to start.

Getting fat is an indicator of going the wrong direction so watch out. It means you're losing grip. Maybe you had your time managed well as work, gym, free time but now that everything is "home time", the timetable could be fading. Worry not, knowing is half the battle. As we share before, having a ritual can help separate time. See Working From Home is ____!

There's almost no hope once ignorance takes over because by that time, these people have lost the ability to know what's right from wrong and there are countless sources of information/misinformation. As the saying goes, if you don't stand for something, you would fall for anything. It is the worst if the ignorant are given power/money over others. They could potentially re-shape society.

Now that the nagging is done, why don't we give it a shot and swim with the tide? The pandemic will be over one day but when it does, when the flood clears up, what's left is either a better version of ourselves or just an older one. Let it be the former.
