If the news covers it, chances are that everyone, even the kids have known it. Today, we are all "salmon".
TOEIC Speaking is going to take a longer time to write so here we are. Here's a story about a restaurant campaign taking Taiwan by storm and even become known internationally, "the salmoners".
As you may know, the brains behind this ingenious/moronic advertisement are from a sushi restaurant. Should your name include the word "salmon" in Chinese, you may get all you can eat salmon FOR FREE. Little did they know that the length people would go just to meet the requirement. More than 300 Spartans... or Taiwanese actually changed their names and thus created the phenomenon and further discussions.
We will not take a side on this issue because it seems redundant. We do, however, have some thoughts over this. First things first, we condemn those who participated in the event but left rice or food to be wasted. There's no excuse for what they did.
Is it ______(any negative adjective) to change your name for some free ______(any product)?
Was it a mistake for one business to create such an event or should they be responsible for not thinking about a possible outcome like food squander?
Do you think little of the participants? Do you worry about the future of the younger generation?
Those are just questions to reflect and chances are that most of us get manipulated by one-sided opinions. Due to limited time, we'd like to wrap up by saying this.
It's okay to laugh at funny things people do but in the end, it's their freedom. Having a laugh is enough.
A business is a business; its goal is to profit by any means necessary. Morality is secondary.
Do we know for a fact that only younger people are changing their names? Even if so, is it a number to represent a generation or are we only looking at what we want to criticize?
