Everyone experiences times when they feel a little bit blue or sad. This is a normal part of being human. Many of us have been feeling alone with the sense that all is lost. You feel no motivation to do anything other than dwell on the past. Because of these feelings, a lot of us are dealing with depression.

Depression is an illness that causes you to feel sad, lose interest in activities that you have always enjoyed, withdraw from others, and have little energy. It's different from normal feelings of sadness.
Depression can also cause people to feel hopeless about the future and even think about suicide. Certain risk factors may make a person more prone to developing depression, such as a family history of depression, adverse childhood experiences, stress, illness, and gender.
The number of young people that commit suicide has been increasing every year. Many experts say adolescents and teens today probably face more pressures at home or school, worry about financial issues for their families, and use more alcohol and drugs. They have to face a lot of stress even though they are just teenagers.
The question is, why are there so many children having depression? Are we forcing kids to deal with problems too much? Criticism exists everywhere. At schools, some kids are being bullied by their friends or even teachers. These kids feel left out and lonely; no one is willing to help them. This leads to depression. Modern lifestyles, lack of community and family support, less exercise, no casual and unstructured technology-free play, less sunshine, and more computer also bring up this medical illness.
Not also many depressed teenagers increase, all other ages are having a hard time hiding this illness. Why do they have to hide it? Because society is so cruel, depression people cannot have a normal life like others. Bringing up an example, K-pop singer Sulli had suffered from panic disorders, severe depression, and ended up suicide. For years, she had been a target of hateful acidity online from netizens who disapprove of her public persona. Just with a computer and a keyboard, people can indirectly kill someone. The phrase "societal killing" has been employed to imply that South Korea, as a society, may be responsible for her death. People smile and laugh a lot does not mean they are always happy. They may suffer from loneliness and mental health issues every day.

Many people, and sometimes their families, feel embarrassed or ashamed about having depression. This makes the problem gone worse. Depression is a common illness. It affects the young and old, men and women, all ethnic groups, and all professions. People having this disease often feel lonely and hopeless. They feel desperate and uncertain, so families and friends need to keep an eye on them. Talk, communicate with them is an excellent way to make them feel better, and gently encourage him or her to do things and see people. Don't get upset with them. The behavior you see is the disease, not the person. Lack of conversation can escalate someone's feelings of helplessness and despair, leading to a point where they cannot see a solution. We need to show people that we are with them; mental health is everyone's issue.
Everyone can face depression, so think about sadness, and understand that it is normal. It's part of life. People have good days and bad days. We need to normalize it. But it's also important to remember to ask for help, and know that you don't have to be alone with your struggles. Be kind to yourself. If your friend were sad, you would give them a hug to cheer them up. But if we are unhappy, we criticize ourselves and tell ourselves to do better. Self-criticism is an issue we all face, give ourselves a hug, take care of ourselves.
