I would like a world without unreasonable copyright laws, software patents, and a world where trademarks would be restricted to the prevention of fraud. However, copyright is needed for our world for many reasons.

Copyright is an important tool that promotes and protects creative work. The author is entitled to the right on anything or he or she creates, including thoughts. Artists get paid for their brilliant works due to this law. Music, art, performance, books and software are all protected by this law. If we look deeply inside this, copyright makes it fair between both creators and users. Artists make money from their works, and of course, from the money we pay for these works. Moreover, there are other benefits of purchasing authentic items. We own it, listen to it with good quality, and shows respect to the creator.
From the perspective of common lives, we want the things we create to belong to us, the studies (researches), jobs and so on. Sometimes, your work could be leaked out and others would steal them from you. There’s not much to do without a law to protect us in this case. This example is a way to better understand this law.
What would happen if copyright laws were non-existent?
Producers would stop funding projects. Of course, some amateurs will still produce unprofessional creations, but anything that requires any sort of costs to make, such as a movie or a national album, will be unable to find secured funding. Then our world will just have low quality works, no good movies or music to hear, because no one wants to keep producing free things if they don’t get paid. The world will somehow become unfair.

Having said that, there are still a lot of free stuff for people to use, because some people, or a wider point of view, some countries do not have good conditions to afford paying for everything. Free things are usually not the best in quality but we can still use them. Take me as an example. Generally speaking, I do not spend much money on buying items; I use what is free. If it is not, I will not use it. Nonetheless, there are some works I appreciate and would like to buy and support the creators and enjoy the better quality versions of them, for example, music from Spotify or Netflix. I am satisfied with the money I paid and the quality I get. It is quite fair then. I get high-quality things and they get the money for making them.
To conclude, the existence of copyright to me is a good thing. I’m a person who enjoys using free items, but I can still pay for what I want. Having copyright helps creators earn benefits and reduce plagiarism.
