As society advances, our problems become more complex. It isn't how things should be though how they always will be. This is just progress. The issue is whether we are caught up with the speed of change fast enough. We often forget about the most important part of life, our soul. For different beliefs, the soul can be interpreted into one's spirit, mind, id... etc.

Close in on the film this time, we see two affluent protagonists, Danny and Carl. One has a family of wife and kids and the other has the freedom of a bachelor's life. Neither of them is happy despite having desirable conditions that people describe as "ideal".

Most people want a family, a sense of belonging, descendants, and that's what Danny has. However, throughout the film, there's just an unspoken sadness in his character. He never got what he truly wanted- a soulmate. Yes, he is married with children but there was no interaction among them other than his wife talking to him about making another baby.

Most people want to be free from obligations, to be free, to have no strings attached, and that's what Karl has. Still, it was hinted that he never was satisfied with the young, sexy, and good-looking partner. They were only physically together and most of the time she was with her phone. People have uploaded their emotions and feelings to gadgets and they do so naturally and with indiscretion.

Everyone got enough but at the same time lacks.

Everyone has someone but at the same time no one.

Everyone is stressed out but at the same time pushing for more.

In the end, we managed to be so rich yet so poor, so happy yet so sad, so intelligent yet so stupid, because of a misdirection from the beginning that we ought to go on this materialistic path and that we need to follow the norm.

What if the norm is wrong? What if the idea of a happy life is wrong? What if we're merely falling for the shade of something others created to benefit themselves?

Nobody knows the answer to all but one thing is certain. We are all here to explore, not only outward but inward. Know yourself.
